On Monday April 2,

Two Chinese students visiting the US debated our students on April 2. We enjoyed a light hearted look at romance as we enjoy public speaking just for the fun of it!

Resolved: When dating we prefer a popular boy to an intelligent boy.

About the Chinese

Yvette_Zhou.jpg
My name is Zhou Zixi, English name, Yvette, born in Jiangsu Province, and now a senior year student of Xian International Studies University, majoring in English. I am pursuing my graduate study—JD, in Peking University. Hope I could be a good lawyer after years of study. Reading, traveling, music are my hobbies, but debate ruins that.
I am a girl who hates arguing with others but love debating.
However, while debate disrupts my original life, debate also brings me a brand new one.

I read the books I never read before—I was a literature fan and now a economics and politics reader. Now I am not only concerned of my own life, but also I take an overall view to things happening in my community and around.
Debate shuts down the narrow window of my life and leads me through a grand door to the wide world of ideas.

My name is Zhang Bihan, and my hometown is in Shaanxi Province. I’m a junior student in Xi’an International Studies University. My university enjoys a pretty long and honorary history of debate, that’s also part of the reason I love debate and regard it as my favorite extra-curricular activity.

I have participated in lots of tournaments, and I do enjoy these experiences. I’ve got the first prize and the best speaker award in the twelfth IDEA-BFSU English Debate Competition, and the runner-up in the second China-Open and others. More importantly, I formed new friendship and greatly broadened my horizon. I learned the real meaning of team work and cooperation, and I appreciate the help provided by the judges and trainers. I think the debate is complicated, which makes me either excited or frustrated. But it is a rewarding experience that I would trade nothing for.
